EBI Audio Khumar MC Phono Cartridge - Highly Reviewed
General:
Recent arrival, meticulously hand-crafted by an up-and-coming HiFi company based in India.
Featuring a boron cantilever and Shibata stylus the Khumar is similar in construction to the Sumiko Starling or Hana Blue, but with the added benefit of a wood body.
We tested this cartridge on our shop Technics SL-1200G and found it to track and sound beautifully. We paired it with a headshell from DS audio which provided a great solid platform.

CONSTRUCTION
- Body: Gorgeous, handcrafted black Ebony wood,in light but extremely rigid for beautiful texture and detail. Truly a miniature work of art.
- Stylus: Shibata III from Orbray (formerly Namiki), with a contact surface of 80μm. This stylus accurately traces the groove in ultra-precise fashion, effortlessly capturing the record’s sound in its true colors.
- Cantilever: Boron, which is remarkably stiff, eliminating unwanted vibrations for playback that is true to the source and low in distortion.
- Base: Aluminum 7075 material couples the cartridge body to a base/top piece. This material effectively damps vibration to reduce signal loss/distortion.
